South African artist, born 31 March 1965 in Germiston, Johannesburg. She started performing professionally at the age of 16, signing her first recording contract with Decibel when she was 21. By this time she was already a household name on TV, with her songs being featured on various music programmes on TV4. Her first album, “My Verlange”, was issued in 1987, and she followed this up with “Woorde” in 1989. Her single “As Jy Aan Eendag Glo” was very popular, receiving frequent radio and TV play. In 1991 she turned to more “alternative” Afrikaans music, forming the pop duo ye-ye with Harold Schenk. From 1997 to 2003 Amanda and Schenk managed their own recording studio in Pretoria, offering many Afrikaans artists the opportunity to have their music recorded. She issued 2 further albums, “As Jy Aan Eendag Glo” (2000) and “Deel Van My” (2006), but primarily focused her attention on her family from 2004 onwards. She presently resides in Cape Town where she offers her services as a singing instructor.

This song was released on 7” single in 1983, as the B-side to “Why have I fallen in love (with a cowboy)”. Apparently it was a demo recording that her father took to Trio records to have a few 7” singles cut, and was, therefore, never really marketed. Someone at Trio Records misspelled her surname (Late instead of Luyt), as can be seen on the label.
