Franz Lehar, the composer of the operetta, Das Land des Lächelns (Land Of Smiles) gave a signed copy of the sheet music of this very popular and well known song to German tenor Richard Tauber. He gave it to his friend and my singing teacher Albrecht Lewald as a farewell present when Albrecht emigrated from Germany to South Africa in 1938. Before he passed away Albrecht gave this valuable copy of Dein Ist Mein Ganzes Herz to me. Sadly 15 years later in 2006 it was stolen from my home in Hermanus by thieves who entered my house. I have lost a very valuable article but the music cannot be stolen and will live on.
